this past week

Monday 9th - bought dresses for a woman named Aisha for her role in Big Otis - a show that William is is costuming doing at the Lenox Lounge in Harlem NYC. It was great! I got to shop for dresses in cream, champagne, navy, silver, gold, black..champagne/ cream was more preferable. Well the fitting is Tuesday at 12:00 - yikes.. I was told to go max out the card.. no more then 1,000 dollars, and to spend no more then 500 on a dress... My grandmothers teaching kicked into high gear! I was told she was an 18 and to look at Macy's and Lord and Taylor's.. I got 5 dresses.. We needed MORE! so i came back to the studio and they sent me to Syms- an interesting cheap store. found 3 items.. still not that happy.. so I told Donald- my boss that they dept stores told me to come back 1st thing in the morning and they might have more shipments in and more selection..
Tuesday 10th - I started the day out at Lord and Taylor's, waiting for it to open..sure enough I came back with 7 dresses from lord and Taylor's and Macy's and we were golden. She walked in about 12:45.. and she was in aww of the dresses.. she told me I should be a personal shopper, and her personal shopper, because I captured her with out meeting her. lol.. so it was nice. We took pictures of her in all the dresses. When the fitting was over we had a good idea of dresses we liked, but ultimately it was up to William who returned late Wednesday afternoon.. we cleaned the studio in preparation for William.. I went shopping for men's dress shirts.
Wednesday 11th - we did some Leap of Faith errands.. I went to buy more dress shirts and tux shirts.. let e tell you I could NOT find a 15 1/2 neck size tux shirt that was not $200 dollars.. so Donald was not happy.. I had checked the Uptown syms- no luck so when I returned to the studio I asked to check the downtown syms- I found 2.. so I gt both and let Donald decide.. he chose the cheap one. While I was out William arrived and they were briefing him on everything about what had happned, going to happen etc.. everyone left and I stayed to finish up and ship a package and William was so happy with the dresses I had chosen, Donald told him it was I who did the work and William was very impressed with me. made me happy!! Sent the package and went home.
Thursday 12th - I didn't say anything but the reason for the dresses and shirts were for the BIG OTIS show obviously, but today is the EBONY photo shoot of what a fitting is like... everyone arrives at 5 pm sharp. So we are setting the area up for the shoot, laying out jewelry, organizing pocket squares, ties, hats, gloves, watches, etc.. everything to make the actors feel like royalty.
My assignment at 4:00 is to drop off something at Jennifer Loves stdio and to escort her back to William Studio.. and to be back by 5.. i get to Jennifer Loves studio and she thinks we don't leave her studio till 5:00.. so i say lets leave at 4:40.. it will give us time.. esp if we take the express. so we take the express and get to the studio at 5:08 and i have 3 calls from Donald asking where we are.. so I blame it on subway traffic.. we did stop in the middle of our trip for subway traffic ahead. Photo shoot went off with out a hitch.. opened safety pins for the fitting and had my picture taken while doing so so if I end up in Ebony Magazine.. that would be cool! we were done a 7:45
Friday 13 - William and Donald have an early morning meeting with producers for Dreamgirls from Sweden! Then they hit the road at 10 am for fittings with a Bride and bridesmaids.. for a Saturday wedding, on Martha's vineyard. I did some cleaning, packing accessories for the show up, buying fabric and shipping boots, buying shoes and tux pins.. small errands.
Saturday 14- went to the Noguchi museum in Long Island City. it was so ZEN wonderful and quiet. I wish there were massage tables there! then we got on the Q69 and headed to Astoria to get Greek food. We had a HUGE awesome lunch at 3:40 ish and it was dinner too.. we have great leftovers.. but it was our priority to get Greek pastries! YUMMY we got a chocolate mouse which made me happy!.. on our way home we stopped and went to a beer garden to meet a friends friends.. the bouncer asked for id and he asked for my parents id.. they are 59 and 60.. are you kidding me! oh and I forgot to mention that they asked us to get rid of our food and I told them.. no one and nothing comes between me and my food.. not even beer! So we didnt go in! got back on teh train and had beer at home.
Sunday 15- woke up..don't feel well.. so spent the day in pj's and laying down.. hopefully feel better soon!
tomorrow is a new day..

catch up again

the week of the 26th - lots of packing and shipping to LA. Lots of shopping for Leap of Faith fabrics, dresses were made, zippers bought. LOTS went out to LA for fittings and the rehearsal process. But I did go to a great restaurant called ilili it was great.. I tried Duck and Lamb.. i actually enjoyed the food and had a blast!
I got off work early on the 30th (friday) so we could go to visit friends in the Hampton's.. it was fun. I met some cool people one of who is a matchmaker, so I gave her my card , we will see what happens. Met some other really cool people, and just chilled by a pool. It was a nice relaxing weekend.
We came back Sunday evening so I could go to work in the morning..
The 2nd of August - well it is Monday.. last day for William and Martha before they fly to LA.. they leave at 8 am tomorrow.. So we are doing any last minute packing, shipping buying fabric.. sending fabric, ANYTHING that needs to be done is being done. IT WAS MY DADS BIRTHDAY!!
the 3rd.. removing the picture research and putting them on portable paper rolls to ship to LA.. but it has to be just like they were on the cork boards.. shipped and cleaned the studio.. organized a section in the basement ONLY for DREAMGIRLS.
the 4th.. more errands all day.. oh I did go see two new Dreamgirl actors one will actually join the cast and hit the road for 6 months.. it was nice getting to meet them and taking down their measurements.
the 5th - we ran around the city.. did receipts and we met Joan Rivers.. she is a BLAST.. she came out of her fitting room and started yelling and saying "fuck you" "fuck the place; everyone is so unprofessional" she then headed for the door and then turned around to say hello to the three of us.. she was very kind, asked us our names, majors, schools, and just very pleasant and happy to meet us. We gathered all to be rhinestones and headed downstairs and she was outside waiting for her car.. she smiled and chatted with us a bit more. Then we headed to the studio.
the 6th - swatched for Chicago.. but forth RCCL.. need help figuring it out? ask! picked up dresses from Valentina and choir Robes that aren't being used for 9 to 5 so we are planning on shipping them to LA for possible rehearsal attire. I also got "puerto rican luggage" or cheap plastic zipper bags to also ship with the dresses I picked up earlier.. ALL to LA. Then I helped the other girls heat set rhinestones to the boas for Joan Rivers. While they did some of that I organized the Chicago swatches so fabrics can be chosen. Then we ended work early so we could say farewell to Adrianne, who is headed back to NC.. now it is Libby and I.. We went to a bar called Temple on Lafayette it was very pleasant and fun
the 7th - the family went to the art and design museum and then I did an errand for work and went back stage where A Little Night Music is playing to get a bible that was much needed to ship for 9 to 5.then went to lunch, left for a few min to go backstage at Chicago for a receipt sale.. it was so nice, I want to go back there again! then went to the Folk Art museum, neat stuff!!
the 8th -today! well we spent most of the morning at the apt.. left around 1 to the DOMINICAN DAY PARADE of 6th ave.. it was fun, lots of great pictures; music was crazy and we had a blast.. then got a beer at a pub, took the express train to Whole foods and then shopped and took the connection home.

I will do my best to update either daily or every other!!
